The story of your build...
Understanding the build process
Firstly, timber is sourced from a local timber yard and each length of timber is hand selected for prime cuts.

The timber is stored for two weeks to acclimatise to indoor conditions. This allows the fibres to adjust in their connected state to UK household humidity, allowing them to move at a slow pace.

Once your design and measurements have been confirmed and agreed, your build will commence on the next available build sprint. Build sprints are bi-weekly and repeat every other weekend.

When your order is built, it will sit indoors for final acclimatisation. This process can take between 1 and 2 weeks and allows the newly cut fibres to make a final movement and settle into its new structure.

Your build will then face various temperature fluctuations (season dependent) during acclimatisation. This process is crucial. When timber is cut to size, the fibres of the wood and stresses that were holding them in place no longer exist. This stage minimises future wood movement.
When the above process has taken place, your build will be taken back into the workshop for a final sand, and edges will be rerouted back into shape.
When the above process has been completed, your build will be washed with a white spirit (to remove fine dust) and left to dry.
Once dry, it will be stained to the desired colour, and left to dry.
Then, the first coat of Polyurethane varnish will be applied and left for 6 hours to cure.
Your build will then be sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper to remove any residual imperfections.
Another coat of Polyurethane varnish will be applied and allowed to cure for another 6 hours. Then another sanding process will take place. Your build is now sealed and the fibres are no longer able to move as freely as they could previously.

When the varnishing process has completed, the first coat of Beeswax will be applied. Once this has cured it will be buffed down with a 1000 grit buffing pad.
The Beeswax application will take place several times until a butter smooth finish is achieved.

Finally, your product will be polished with furniture wax to remove any fine particles.

Your build is now complete.
At this point that your build will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed up using recycled cardboard and packing from a local business.
It will be hand delivered to the Post Office via ParcelForce 24 hour delivery and fully insured for collection by the courier the very same day. You will receive a tracking reference for your convenience.
Within 24 hours your build will be delivered for unboxing.
I hope this helps explain the lead time required to deliver your product. The above process is crucial to minimise future wood movement.
Despite all the efforts listed above, wood does move. It is the nature of the material. Every effort is made to minimise future movement and give you the highest quality product. This process has been finely tuned to deliver a high quality product that will last and look amazing in your home for years to come.
I appreciate your patience and look forward to your enquiries.
